NFL Rookie Watch

Mike Bell

Last week: unranked Bell disappeared for a few weeks as Tatum Bell took over in the Broncos' backfield, but the undrafted free agent out of Arizona bounced back in a big way against the Colts last week. Bell ran for 136 punishing yards and two touchdowns in a close loss. Look for Denver to turn to the hard-running rookie more as the season enters the second half.

Dawan Landry

Last week: unranked Landry shook off a sore knee and had two picks to help the Ravens beat the Saints last Sunday. That gives him three interceptions on the season, and he ranks fifth on this star-studded defense with 30 tackles.

Demeco Ryans

Last week: unranked Ryans ranks seventh in the NFL with 63 tackles and continues to outshine fellow Texans rookie Mario Williams. Houston's defense isn't great, but Ryans has the physical skills and the mentality to be a star. He plays beyond his years.

Reggie Bush

Last week: No. 1 Bush struggled tremendously against the Ravens last week and hurt his ankle, but he should be back against the Bucs on Sunday. His numbers aren't great -- 212 rushing yards -- but opposing defensive coordinators still have to put energy into accounting for the No. 2 overall pick.

Maurice Jones-Drew

Last week: unranked Jones-Drew had 77 rushing yards to help the Jags top the Eagles last Sunday. One week he'll kill you as a runner, the next as a receiver and then as a punt returner. The versatile and quick rookie out of UCLA should be Jacksonville's main offensive weapon for the rest of the season.

Vince Young

Last week: No. 9 Young may never put up big numbers, but the guy knows how to win. He threw for one touchdown and ran for another in a victory over the Texans last week. That's two in a row for Young and the Titans.

Mark Anderson

Last week: No. 4 Anderson has had at least one sack in his last four games and now ranks fourth in the NFL with 7.5 total; he has also forced fumbles in his last three games. He still is only a part-time player, but he's making a big impact in his role.

Joseph Addai

Last Week: unranked The Colts running back leads all rookie rushers with 447 yards, and last week against the Broncos he showed he could be an effective target for Peyton Manning. Addai had five catches for 37 yards in the big win.

Laurence Maroney

Last week: No. 10 Maroney's rushing numbers have plummeted, but he has developed into one of the NFL's most potent kick returners. He's had two of 74 yards over the last two weeks.

Marques Colston

Last week: No. 2 Every week that you expect the seventh-round pick to come down to Earth, he gets better. Colston had six catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns in New Orleans' loss to Baltimore last week. Quarterback Drew Brees loves Colston, and the former Hofstra receiver should continue to put up Pro Bowl-type numbers.
