Tiki Barber's Excellent Adventure

Tiki Barber's Excellent Adventure

Tiki Barber is second on Virginia's career list for rushing yards with 3,389, trailing only Thomas Jones. He had 19 100-yard games in a stellar career. He was also a standout sprinter and long jumper on the UVA track team.

The Giants drafted Barber in the second round of the 1997 draft and immediately became a starter. Barber missed several games with a knee injury, but still rushed for 511 yards his rookie season.

Barber was known as one of the NFL's premier pass-catching backs for several years. From 1999 through 2003, he averaged over 69 catches per season. Later in his career he was used more as a runner, but he still has excellent hands.

Barber's Giants stormed through the NFC playoffs to reach Super Bowl XXXV against Baltimore. The Ravens, led by their ferocious defense, won 34-7.

Tiki Barber and twin brother Ronde Barber have remained close despite being NFC rivals. Ronde, a Pro Bowl cornerback for the Bucs, has 31 career interceptions.

Tiki Barber has made no secret of his desire to pursue a career in broadcasting. He co-host Fox and Friends morning news show once a week and has gained television experience throughout his career.

At age 30, Barber had his best season in 2005. He rushed for 1,860 yards and had 2,390 total yards, the second highest mark in NFL history. The Giants followed Barber to an NFC East division crown.

Barber announced 2006 would be his last season, but he is still at the top of his game. Entering Week 15, Barber ranked fourth in the NFL with 1,282 rushing yards. Barber already owns most of the major Giants' records and his lifetime statistics put him in the top 25 of several major categories.
