VEYSONNAZ, Switzerland (AP) Lucas Eguibar of Spain and Michela Moioli of Italy won the first snowboardcross World Cup events of the season on Saturday.

Eguibar earned his first career win ahead of Sochi Olympic silver medalist Nikolay Olyunin. Kevin Hill of Canada, the world championship silver medalist, was third.

Moioli's victory continued her comeback from a serious knee injury she sustained in the Olympic final 13 months ago.

The 19-year-old Italian also took bronze at the worlds in January at Kreischberg, Austria.

Moioli led the final throughout and finished ahead of two French racers, Nelly Moenne Loccoz and Chloe Trespeuch.

World champion Lindsey Jacobellis of the United States placed 11th after crashing in the semifinals.

Veysonnaz hosts another World Cup event Sunday and the season concludes next weekend at La Molina, Spain.
