South African judge, Singapore lawyer join IAAF ethics panel

MONACO (AP) A former judge from South Africa and a lawyer from Singapore will serve on the ethics commission of track and field's world governing body.

The appointments were announced Wednesday by the International Association of Athletics Federations, which has been buffeted by a series of corruption and ethics cases.

The IAAF says the new members of the ethics panel are Justice Catherine O'Regan and Annabel Pennefather.

O'Regan is a former judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Since 2010, she has served as an ad-hoc judge of the Supreme Court of Namibia.

Pennefather is a Singaporean lawyer with experience in sports law and governance. She is also a vice president of the Singapore National Olympic Council.

The appointments bring the total number of ethics commission members to nine. The panel is chaired by Britain's Michael Beloff.
