East Carolina vs. South Carolina

After losing at home to Texas A&M, 52-28, in their season opener, the South Carolina Gamecocks will host the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday. In their opening game, South Carolina was blasted at home by the Aggies, 52-28. ECU defeated North Carolina Central 52-7 in its first game.

South Carolina facts

Quarterback Dylan Thompson had 366 yards on 20-of-40 passing with four touchdowns and one interception against Texas A&M. 

The Gamecocks' defense allowed 680 yards against the Aggies. 

A win over ECU would give South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier his 200th career victory. 

Spurrier is also seeking his 50th career win at home with South Carolina.

South Carolina is undefeated in its last 15 non-conference games.

East Carolina facts

ECU is 5-12 all-time against South Carolina. The Pirates have not won since 1999. 

The Pirates are 5-23 all-time against current members of the SEC.

After Saturday's game against South Carolina, ECU will face Virginia Tech and North Carolina. It will be the 10th time since 2005 that ECU will face teams from the Power Five in consecutive games.

ECU is 4-10 in road openers since 2000.

ECU beat North Carolina and North Carolina State in 2013.
