With the Wildcats missing several starters due to injuries, including All-American linebacker Scooby Wright, the team will continue to rely on sophomores Anu Solomon and Nick Wilson to lead the way. In a 44–20 win against Nevada in Week 2, Wilson ran for 194 yards and three scores, while Solomon passed for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Through 16 college games together, the duo has combined for 54 touchdowns and more than 6,300 yards of total offense.
Northern Arizona's quarterback Case Cookus is also a threat on offense. The freshman is the FCS leader in passing efficiency and has totaled 563 passing yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions through two games.
Arizona is 12–1 all-time against Northern Arizona, with its last loss coming in 1932.
