Oklahoma and Tulsa aren't exactly rivals, but the in-state opponents have faced off in 9 of the past 14 seasons. Oklahoma has expectedly dominated those nine meetings.

Oklahoma comes into the game ranked No. 16 after a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Tennessee. The Sooners trailed by much as 14, before rallying in the fourth quarter and winning in double overtime. Quarterback Baker Mayfield went 19-for-39 for 187 yards and three touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. He added 46 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

Tulsa comes into the game 2–0 and with some momentum after blowing out New Mexico 40-21. Quarterback Dane Evans has thrown for 745 yards and four touchdowns through the first two games. Running backs Zack Langer and D'Angelo Brewer have rushed for 228 and 225 yards, respectively. Tulsa hasn't beaten Oklahoma since 1996.
