Pittsburgh running back James Conner announced he is cancer–free on Monday.

Conner began undergoing chemotherapy late last year after he was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma. The cancer was discovered last Thanksgiving after doctors found tumors on Conner’s neck and chest.

“God is AMAZING. Just got the call that my body is clean of cancer!!!” Conner wrote on Twitter. “Been a long road but God has my back. Thanks everyone who said prayers!”

Conner was the 2014 ACC Player of the Year for the Panthers. He missed most of last season after tearing a ligament in his right knee during Pitt’s season opener.

Conner said last year he planned on returning to the Panthers for one more season once he returned to good health.
