New York Knicks fans are hoping that what worked for the Jets supporters will work for them, as they are currently trying to raise funds for a billboard outside Madison Square Garden that would encourage owner James Dolan to sell the team.

The group behind the "Fire John Idzik" campaign, which led to several billboards being placed around MetLife Stadium, have started Knicks4Sale.com to encourage Knicks fans to help out with a similar campaign to oust Dolan.

The fans told ESPN that the owner's recent response to a critical fan email, in which he called the fan an alcoholic and told him to root for the Nets, served as the impetus for the new campaign.

Knicks4Sale.com's goal is to raise $20,000 to place a billboard outside Madison Square Garden, although the group, led by brothers Jason and Jared Koeppel, is realistic about the signs impact, according to ESPN.

"Just like we didn't think that Woody Johnson was gonna go outside Route 3 [near MetLife Stadium] and look at a billboard and fire his general manager, we certainly don't think that James Dolan is gonna look at a billboard on 30th and Seventh and say, 'Hey, maybe you know what? I should sell the Knicks.'"

Koeppel said the real goal is to get fans to be more vocal about their displeasure with Dolan's ownership style.
