There is now a tooth embedded in the Capitals’ home ice

Blue Jackets’ Boone Jenner lost a tooth and it got frozen into the ice by a zamboni machine.

Hockey is a dangerous game and players often lose teeth without flinching, but the puck Boone Jenner took to the mouth on Monday night caused a particularly gruesome scene.

The Blue Jackets star took a shot to the face early in the team’s game against the Capitals, and lost a few teeth before heading to the bench.

After taking 20 stitches, Jenner returned to the game with a variety of masks to protect his recently battered face.

Since the tooth could cause an obstruction, the ice crew went searching for it and failed, before realizing it had fallen into a permanently icy grave.

At least Jenner will get to visit the tooth a couple times a year when Columbus takes on the Capitals.
