Nike made a pair of dress shoes for Ken Griffey Jr’s Hall of Fame outfit
Ken Griffey Jr. was enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame late last month, and he made a big sartorial splash while being memorialized in Cooperstown.
In addition to donning a suit with a pinstripe made of text reading, “HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2016,” and putting on his hallmark backwards cap at the end of his induction speech, the Kid was wearing one-of-a-kind Nike dress shoes during the ceremony.
The brown oxfords feature a subtle Swoosh on the toe, with Griffey’s No. 24 and his “Swingman” logo, which adorned much of the Nike merchandise he wore during his playing days.
Nike is not know for making dress shoes, of course, although the athletic wear giant did own Cole Haan until 2012, and contributed its technology to the shoe and accessories brand.
The shoe makers also honored Griffey with a special edition pair of cleats that were worn by players throughout MLB on the day of his induction.
