Yasiel Puig just lost his mind celebrating Monica Puig’s win

Yasiel Puig supports his fellow Puigs.

Monica Puig just captured Puerto Rico’s first Olympic gold medal, with an upset win over Angelique Kerber, and Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig could not be happier.

The Cuban outfielder felt a personal connection with the Puerto Rican, who shares his last name. “#VivaPuig,” he wrote in a tweet. “#GoldenPuig”

He pointed his phone at a television, and posted a 25-second video to Twitter of the moment Puig won her match. He erupted, letting out a loud scream, then added “Oh my God! Yes! Oh my God! You win, baby!”

He referred to her as “The Good Puig.”

The 22-year-old, who upset French Open champion Garbine Muguruza in the first round, has never reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal in her young career. She’s made strides this season, reaching the third round at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Yasiel is currently playing in Triple A, but he is always #YourFriend.
