St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter will miss this weekend's series against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to "extreme fatigue," according to MLB.com writer Jenifer Langosch.

Carpenter did not make the trip to Pittsburgh, according to Langosch. He sat out Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs and left last Sunday's game early due to lightheadedness.

The 29-year-old leads the Cardinals with five home runs and 20 RBIs this season. He's hitting .333 with a .620 slugging percentage and has an MLB-leading 14 doubles.
