Top Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Hunter Harvey will undergo Tommy John surgery, the team announced Thursday.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Donald D’Alessandro in Charlotte, N.C. on Tuesday.

Harvey, a first-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2013, has had a history of elbow issue since coming into the league. He has made 30 starts at all levels since being picked, posting a 7–7 record and 2.79 ERA.

He left his last start with Class A Short-Season Aberdeen with right flexor soreness after 23 pitches.

The 21-year-old is ranked as the No. 73 prospect in baseball according to MLBPipeline.com.
