Watch: Knicks, Rockets players stand together during national anthem

The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets players stood together during the national anthem before Tuesday night’s preseason game.
NBA All-Stars Carmelo Antony and James Harden put their arms around each other as the players aligned in a pattern with most players alongside someone from the opposing team.

The national anthem has been protested throughout the NFL season since San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to sit and later take a knee during “The Star Spangled Banner” in the preseason and regular season. Kaepernick has said his demonstration is to raise awareness for racial injustice in America.

Last month, Anthony voiced his support for Kaepernick’s protest.
“I think he was the first one that actually stepped up and did something the way that he wanted to do it, use his voice in the way that he wanted to use it,” Anthony said. “That’s the only thing I was asking. I didn’t know he was going to do it that way. But it is what it is at this point. Obviously, something good hopefully should come out of what he’s doing. I don’t think he’s being disrespectful. He’s not having a loud protest. He’s doing it quiet. He’s doing it in his own right and if people want to follow suit they follow suit. That’s on everybody else.”
