Kemba Walker Signs With European Team AS Monaco

After 12 seasons in the NBA, Kemba Walker has found a new team overseas. The four-time All-Star has signed a one-year deal with AS Monaco Basket for the 2023-24 season.

Walker, who won a national championship at UConn in 2011, was the No. 9 draft pick by Charlotte in 2011. He spent eight years with the Bobcats/Hornets organization, appearing in three All-Star Games in his last three years and averaging 19.8 points and 5.5 assists per game in his time with the team.

In 2019, Walker signed with the Celtics and subsequently was named to the All-Star Game in his first season with Boston. However, Walker battled injuries during his time in Boston, leading the Celtics to trade Walker away after just two seasons.

Walker joined his hometown Knicks in 2021, but the point guard disappointed in 37 games with just 11.6 points per game. Last year, Walker played in nine games for the Mavericks.

AS Monaco Basket was one of the better European teams last season, reaching the EuroLeague’s Final Four and defeating Metropolitans 92, a club that featured Victor Wembanyama, for the LNB Pro A title in June.
