On Thursday, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson surpassed 10,000 career receiving yards in just 115 games, becoming the fastest NFL player to do so. The previous record was set by former St. Louis Rams receiver Torry Holt, who did it in 116 games.

Johnson also holds the Lions' franchise record for career receiving yards.

The 29-year-old broke the record with a nine-yard catch in the second quarter of the Lions game against the Bears. In the first half, Johnson had nine receptions for 109 yards.

Entering Thursday, Johnson had 38 catches for 578 yards and three touchdowns in eight games. The receiver missed three games in October with an ankle sprain, which limited his play in two other games this season.

The Lions drafted Johnson with the No. 2 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.
