More than four years after undergoing career-threatening neck surgeries in 2011, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manningadmitted to The MMQB's Peter King that he still has no feeling in the fingertips of his throwing hand.

“I can’t feel anything in my fingertips,” the 39-year-old Manning told King last week. “It’s crazy. I’ve talked to a doctor recently who said, ‘Don’t count on the feeling coming back.’ It was hard for me for about two years, because one doctor told me I could wake up any morning and it might come back. So you wake up every day thinking, ‘Today’s the day!’ Then it’s not.”

In his final year with the Indianapolis Colts, Manning was forced to miss the entire 2011 season to recover. Prior to that season, he had never missed a game in his NFL career.

The 14-time Pro Bowl selection has worn a protective glove on his throwing hand since his 2012 signing with Denver, and is likely to wear one again this season.

Despite the lack of feeling in the fingertips of his right hand, Manning has thrown for 131 touchdowns and only 36 interceptions in three seasons with the Broncos.

In 2013, Manning captured the league's MVP award after setting an NFL record for touchdown passes (55) and total yards (5,477). Just one year later, Manning broke Brett Favre's NFL passing touchdown record of 508.

Manning and the Broncos open the 2015 season at home on Sept. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
