The Pittsburgh Steelers have released kicker Josh Scobee and signed free agent Chris Boswell, the team announced Saturday.

Scobee missed two critical field goals late in Thursday’s loss to the Ravens, prompting coach Mike Tomlin to go for it on fourth-and-1 late in overtime instead of attempt a game-winning 51-yard field goal.

Scobee has made just 3 of 7 field goals beyond 40 yards this season.

Boswell, 24, went undrafted out of Rice last year and had a cup of coffee with both the Texans and Giants. He’s never kicked in an NFL game.
