Some NFL owners want Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s Deflategate suspension reduced, Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reports.

Cole spoke with two NFL owners this week who said other owners agree that Brady and the NFL should reach a settlement as soon as possible. The owners believe his current four-game suspension is too severe, but that he does deserve some punishment, Cole reports.

On Monday a U.S. appeals court reinstated Brady’s suspension for his alleged role in deflating footballs before the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 18, 2015. Brady’s original suspension was overturned in federal court last September and he was allowed to play the entire regular season.

Brady is reportedly preparing to fight the appeals court’s decision.

The owners also told Cole that they don’t want to see the situation result in commissioner Roger Goodell being stripped of his power as enforcer of league conduct.
