Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Kellen Moore sustained a broken right fibula during practice on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

Moore will undergo surgery for the injury Wednesday and will be out for three to four months, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

The injury has led the Cowboys to consider signing recently released Rams quarterback Nick Foles, a move Dallas management was previously hesitant to make, ESPN’s Ed Werder reports.

Tony Romo will be the team’s starter in his return from the collarbone injury that caused him to miss all but four games of the 2015 season. Jameill Showers and Dak Prescott are listed behind Moore on the Cowboys’ depth chart.
