The NFL will review how the medical team on hand at Thursday’s Broncos-Panthers game responded to a big hit on Cam Newton, the league announced Sunday.
The NFLPA announced earlier Sunday that it would “initiate a compliance investigation” into the Newton hit.
The NFL said it will use the procedure outlined in the collective bargaining agreement to review whether the league’s concussion protocol was properly applied. The review will including interviewing the parties involved and viewing the relevant video.
The league said Friday that the protocol had been properly adhered to.
In the final minute of Thursday’s game, Newton was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit from Broncos safety Darian Stewart.
Newton’s father, Cecil, said referees are biased against his son.
