NHL Triple-OT Finals Games

NHL Triple-OT Finals Games
Blackhawks vs. Canadiens
The Blackhawks' 3 OT victory on June 12 was the eighth such lengthy Finals game -- the second for the 'Hawks. The first time was in Game 3 in 1931 (not pictured). Cy Wentworth scored the winning goal in the third overtime one game after a Game 2 double overtime victory. The Blackhawks only won those two games, though, and the Canadiens took the series by winning the final two games. In a playoff run defined by extra hockey, the Canadiens had also played three overtime games in the five-game semifinals.
Oilers vs. Bruins
Petr Klima scored 15:13 into the third overtime period to lift the visiting Oilers over the Bruins in a game that remains the longest in Finals history. The Oilers went on to win the series in five games.
Avalanche vs. Panthers
After losing the first three games, the Panthers fought to prevent goals but couldn't score any of their own. Colorado's Uwe Krupp scored on the Panthers at 4:31 in the third overtime, ending the series in an Avalanche sweep.
Stars vs. Sabres
The Stars' Brett Hull scored the Cup-winning goal past the Sabres' sprawling Dominik Hasek. Finishing at 15:13 in the third overtime, it was the longest clinching game in Finals history.
Stars vs. Devils
The year after clinching the Cup in three overtimes, the Stars played another 3 OT Finals game. Mike Modano lifted the Stars past the Devils with the only goal of the night in the seventh minute of the final overtime. The Stars were rewarded for their effort by a Devils series victory in the next game.
Red Wings vs. Hurricanes
Exactly two years after the Stars' second 3 OT cup game, the Red Wings defeated the Hurricanes 3-2 on an Igor Larionov goal. Three years after losing a three-overtime game and the series, goalie Dominik Hasek was on the winning end for Detroit. The Red Wings went on to win in five games.
Penguins vs. Red Wings
Down 3-1 in the series, the Penguins fought back in Game 5, winning on a Petr Sykora goal 9:52 in the third overtime. The Red Wings would counter to win the series in Game 6.
Blackhawks vs. Bruins
The Blackhawks became the second team to win two 3 OT Finals games 82 years after being the first to win one. Andrew Shaw scored a goal on Tuukka Rank at about midnight local time, capping a 4-3 comeback win for the 'Hawks.
