Toronto FC striker Sebastian Giovinco scored his club’s first ever hat trick on Sunday against New York City FC and he did it in just nine minutes.
After missing a penalty kick earlier in the match, Giovinco converted a PK in the 34th minute. In the 40th minute, Jackson Goncalves set Giovinco up with a back-heel pass and he finished with a strike from the edge of the box. The third goal came in the 43rd minute, when Giovinco chipped the ball past NYCFC goalkeeper Josh Saunders.
Giovinco also assisted on Toronto’s fourth goal of the afternoon but the game ended in a 4–4 draw.
“Seba showed again that he's one of the best players in the league,” Toronto midfielder Benoit Cheyrou said after the match.
