Mexico midfielder Giovani Dos Santos will likely miss Sunday's Gold Cup quarterfinal against Costa Rica, the LA Galaxy announced on Thursday.

The Galaxy signed Dos Santos on Wednesday to a reported four-and-a-half year deal.

Dos Santos left Mexico's Wednesday group match against Trinidad and Tobago at halftime and was later diagnosed with a left abductor injury. The match ended in a 4–4 draw.

Mexico doctor Gerardo Aguilar said Dos Santos will likely have to sit out the quarterfinal, according to the Galaxy.

Dos Santos is scheduled to join the Galaxy after the completion of the Gold Cup.
