Hawks-Grizzlies NBA Odds, Spread, Over/Under and Props

Spread, over/under and props bets for Monday’s Hawks-Grizzlies game in Memphis. The Grizz are sizable home favorites.

The Hawks have a quick turnaround Monday in Memphis following an overtime victory on Sunday that ended their three-game losing streak. They’ll face the Grizzlies, winners of their last five, at the FedEx Forum for the first time this season.

Atlanta swept the two-game set between these clubs in 2021-22, and both meetings were decided by 15-plus points. There could be All-Stars missing for both sides, with Dejounte Murray (ankle) out and Ja Morant (thigh) questionable, not to mention Desmond Bane (toe) and John Collins (ankle), who have both been ruled out already.

Memphis had a longer layoff than Atlanta since its last game on Friday, which could bode well for Morant's status in this head-to-head matchup with Trae Young. The Hawks, who have had their struggles on the road, are in the midst of a 4–6 stretch, while the Grizzlies have played their best basketball all year over the last two weeks.

Bet Hawks-Grizzlies on SI Sportsbook

Spread Bet: Grizzlies -8 (-118)

The Hawks have dropped four of their last five games outside of Atlanta, while the Grizzlies, who are 11–2 on the year at FedEx Forum, have won their last five at home. As long as Morant is active, Memphis should roll. A season ago, the Grizzlies went a miraculous 20–5 without their All-Star guard, but they're just 1–3 without him.

This is Atlanta's largest underdog position of the year, and it comes when Young is struggling. His scoring and field goal percentages are down in December, and his turnovers are up. Bogdan Bogdanović stepped up with 28 points last time out, and rookie A.J. Griffin sealed the game at the buzzer—that was just the fifth time all season that a player not named Young or Murray led the team in scoring.

Compare that to Memphis’ situation, where Jaren Jackson Jr.Dillon Brooks or even Tyus Jones can step up to lead the team on offense and back that up on the other side of the floor. The Grizzlies are the deeper team and are more talented than the Hawks. It might be a tough cover if Morant doesn't suit up, but either way, make it six in a row for Memphis.

Over/Under Bet: Under 227.5 (-110)

The Grizzlies' defense has been stifling on its current run of victories. It's allowing just 103.8 ppg over its last five, more than eight full points below its season average. That run of stellar defense could continue against the hampered Hawks. With Murray out, Memphis's wings can devote almost all of their attention to slowing down Young.

One of the biggest weaknesses for the Grizzlies is their three-point defense—they rank 29th in opponents’ made threes per game. But Atlanta is surprisingly not suited to take advantage as they rank 29th in made threes.

The last three Memphis games have gone under, and its contests stay under at a slightly higher rate than go over. The same can't be said for the Hawks, whose poor defense often allows big spots to opponents, though. Compared to last season, when the Grizzlies got up and down the floor at a blistering pace and scored the second-most points per game, this offense is a bit subdued.

Prop Bet: Clint Capela Over 25.5 Points Plus Rebounds (-133)

Capela has double-doubled in eight straight games, and his scoring is up a few ticks so far in December. Though he's going up against the best rebounding team in the NBA, Steven Adams, the Grizzlies' leading rebounder, is questionable due to ankle soreness. If Adams doesn't play, Capela would have a huge advantage inside. Regardless, Capela has gone over this combined total in four of his last five games, and he's the No. 2 rebounder in the league this season.
