Betting $100 Every Day for a Year: Day 87 (Picks for Oklahoma-Colorado, Baylor-Minnesota, and More)

In case you haven't been following along, I'm on a journey of betting $100 a day every day for a year. So far, I'm 86 days into the challenge, with 279 days left to go.
I've been putting the plays and my breakdowns out on my social media platforms, but it's time to start bringing my picks to you, the readers.
I'm putting MLB on the back burner for tonight's sports betting action, opting to instead lock in some plays on the first round of the College Basketball Crown, along with an NHL player prop. Let's dive into my three plays and how I'm betting my daily $100 budget.
Betting $100 a Day Every Day for a Year Record
- Yesterday: 1-3 (-$52.78)
- YTD: 158-176-1 (-$225.34)
My Best Bets Today
- $30: Oklahoma/Colorado OVER 164.5 (-113) via BetRivers
- $30: Minnesota +3.5 (+100) via TheScore Bet
- $40: Artturi Lehkonen OVER 0.5 Points (-125) via BetMGM
Oklahoma vs. Colorado Prediction
Pick: $30 on OVER 164.5 (-113)
Instead of betting on a side in this game, I'm looking at the total, and I'm going to bet the OVER. Both teams are similar in the fact that they're great shooting teams who struggle defensively.
Oklahoma and Colorado rank 37th and 95th in effective field goal percentage, but 264th and 281st in defensive efficiency. It's also worth noting the Sooners are primarily a three-point shooting team, and now they get to face a Colorado team that ranks 341st in opponent three-point field goal percentage, allowing teams to shoot 36.8% from beyond the arc.
The Buffaloes also play at a relatively fast pace, ranking 106th in the country in adjusted tempo. If they can push the pace in this game, we could be in for a high-scoring affair.
Baylor vs. Minnesota Prediction
Pick: $30 on Minnesota +3.5 (+100)
While Baylor may have an advantage in this game when you look at the records, the underlying metrics actually give the nod to the Golden Gophers. Minnesota ranks 60th in effective field goal percentage and 140th in defensive efficiency. Baylor, by comparison, ranks 72nd and 257th in those two metrics.
Keep an eye on the three-point shooting of Minnesota tonight. They rank 31st in the country in three-point shot rate, with 47.2% of their shots coming from beyond the arc. Now, they face a team that allows its opponents to shoot 35.5% from three-point land, which ranks 283rd in college basketball.
I'll back Minnesota as an underdog tonight.
Canucks vs. Avalanche Prop Bet
Pick: $40 on Artturi Lehkonen OVER 0.5 Points (-125)
One of the few games set to take place in the NHL tonight is a lopsided affair between the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche. No team has allowed more goals per game since the Olympic break than the Canucks, allowing 4.15 goals per 60 minutes. Now, they have to play on the road against the Stanley Cup favorites. That should be a recipe for Colorado filling the back of the net tonight.
To take advantage of that, let's bet on Arturri Lehkonen to record at least one point at -125. I'm surprised to see his odds set at just -125, considering he's playing on the top line alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas, whose odds of recording a point stand at -800 and -460, respectively.
Sure, Lehkonen isn't the offensive presence as those two players, but if that line can score a couple of goals tonight, I'm more than willing to bet on him at -125 to at least record an assist on one of them.
