The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were 6.5-point underdogs against the New York Jets in the first week of the NFL Preseason, but ended up winning 24-16. They now welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to town, who are coming off a 20-12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Todd Bowles plans to play his starters for at least a series or two in this game after sitting them in Week 1. Meanwhile, Andy Reid plans to once again rest his starters.

Let's dive into the odds and my best bets for tonight's game.

Chiefs vs. Buccaneers Betting Trends

  • Andy Reid is 46-54 straight up and 47-51-2 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason
  • Todd Bowles is 14-15 straight up and 16-13 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason

Chiefs vs. Buccaneers Key Player to Watch

  • Garrett Nussmeier, QB - Kansas City Chiefs

Garrett Nussmeier is doing his best to make the Chiefs' regular season roster. The seventh-round pick out of LSU impressed in the Chiefs' first preseason game, completing 13-of-19 passes for 98 yards. Expect him to get plenty of reps again in Week 2.

Chiefs vs. Buccaneers Prediction and Best Bet

Todd Bowles is now 16-13 against the spread in the preseason as head coach, a solid record in the NFL and worth noting when you bet on the Buccaneers' preseason games. Meanwhile, Andy Reid is known for not playing starters and not caring about winning in the preseason, sporting a spread record of 47-51-2 throughout his career.

The Chiefs' backups gained just 4.9 yards per play in Week 1 against the Rams, and now they're on the road against a Buccaneers team that plans on playing its starters for a portion of the game.

I'm not afraid to lay the points and back the Buccaneers as favorites.

Pick: Buccaneers -5.5 (-108) via DraftKings
