Dream vs. Sun Prediction, Odds, Best WNBA Prop Bet for Thursday, Aug. 13

In this story:
The Atlanta Dream remain in the mix for a top-three seed in the WNBA this season, and they are heavily favored on Thursday night in an Eastern Conference showdown with the Connecticut Sun.
The Sun picked up their eighth win of the 2026 season in their last game, beating the Phoenix Mercury by three at home. CT has a 5-10 record at home this season, and it has thrived as an underdog, covering the spread in eight of 11 games.
Still, the Sun are facing a massive step up in class against Rhyne Howard, Angel Reese and Allisha Gray, as the Dream are eight games over .500 and have a top-five net rating in the 2026 season.
The Dream beat the Sun by 16 points (in Atlanta) the first time these teams met in 2026, and they’ll play one more time after Thursday’s matchup.
Here’s a breakdown of this matchup, including the latest odds, a player prop and my prediction as the Dream look to build their case for a top seed ahead of the playoffs.

Dream vs. Sun Best WNBA Prop Bets
Dream Best WNBA Prop Bet
- Rhyne Howard OVER 17.5 Points (-122)
Howard has been on a heater over the last few weeks, scoring 19, 23, 19 and 22 points in her four games in August.
Now, the All-Star guard takes on a Sun team that isn’t’ terrible defensively (seventh in defensive rating) despite being one of the worst teams in the league. The only issue?
Connecticut allowed Howard to score 36 points back on June 2, letting the star guard knock down 8-for-19 shots from beyond the arc. CT is 11th in the WNBA in opponent 3-point percentage, so this is a favorable matchup for Howard, who averages 8.8 3-point attempts per game this season.
I’ll bet on the former University of Kentucky star to keep her hot streak going on Thursday.
Dream vs. Sun Prediction and Pick
The Dream are a much better team than the Sun, but they have not covered the spread when favored this season.
Atlanta is just 10-20 against the spread when favored, and it has covered in just five of 14 games as a road favorite.
So, this is a great spot for the Sun to at least hang around. CT is 8-3 against the spread as a home underdog, and it has a decent net rating at home (minus-4.1) for a team that is well under .500. For comparison, the Dream have a plus-1.7 net rating on the road in the 2026 season.
So, there’s a world where the Dream win this game pretty easily, but CT is able to keep it within 10 points.
Over their last 15 games, the Sun have either won or kept the matchup within 10 points 12 times. So, this spread may be a little lofty for an Atlanta team that keeps on winning without covering the number.
Pick: Sun +9.5 (-105 at DraftKings)
