Peter’s Points: NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions, Prop Bets for Jalen Brunson, Wemby, Celtics-Heat)

Sports Illustrated's Peter Dewey breaks down his favorite bets for the NBA action on Wednesday, April 1.

Less than two weeks remain in the NBA regular season, and a nine-game slate on Wednesday features several teams fighting for playoff position.

So, why don’t we bet on it?

The San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets will all take the floor on April 1, giving us a ton of teams and players to target.

All of those teams have something to play for over the final weeks of the regular season, and I’m eyeing one side and two props that involve those squads tonight.

After a slow finish to the month of March, I’m looking to turn things around heading into the NBA playoffs. Yesterday was a 1-for-4 showing, but Darius Garland continues to nail his 3-point prop in a strong stretch since moving into the Los Angeles Clippers’ starting lineup.

Here’s a look at Wednesday’s NBA Best Bets, which feature picks for two All-NBA caliber players in the prop market.

1 Season, 600 Bets: NBA Betting Record

  • 2025-26 season record: 228-188 (+4.27 units)
  • 2024-25 season record: 281-293-5 (-4.94 units)
  • OVERALL (since 2021-22 season): 1518-1425-27 (+37.42 units)

NBA Best Bets Today

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

  • Jalen Brunson OVER 23.5 Points (-124)
  • Boston Celtics -4.5 (-118) vs. Miami Heat
  • Victor Wembanyama OVER 11.5 Rebounds (-131)

Jalen Brunson OVER 23.5 Points (-124)

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson struggled on Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets, scoring just 12 points in a blowout loss.

However, Brunson has a favorable matchup against a Memphis Grizzlies team that he scored 32 points against earlier this season.

The Grizzlies are just 28th in the NBA in defensive rating since the All-Star break, and they are allowing over 25 points per game to opposing point guards this season. Brunson has not scored the ball as well as he did before the break, but he’s still averaging 23.8 points per game over his last 20 games, clearing 23.5 points in eight of his last 11 games.

I’m buying him to have a bounce-back showing as the Knicks aim to snap a three-game skid.

Boston Celtics -4.5 (-118) vs. Miami Heat

The Boston Celtics dropped Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks with Jayson Tatum and Neemias Queta out of the lineup, but the C’s are expected to have both players back in action for Wednesday’s game with the Miami Heat.

Miami is just 3-7 in its last 10 games, ranking 20th in the league in net rating (-6.9) during that stretch. Boston, on the other hand, ranks in the top four in the NBA in net rating, defensive rating and offensive rating this season, recording a 9-2 record in the 11 games that Tatum has played in.

So, I love the C’s as small road favorites in this game.

Boston is 14-8 against the spread as a road favorite this season, and Miami has been pretty shaky against teams that are .500 or better this season, going 21-28. The Heat are 0-3 against Boston in the 2025-26 campaign with two of those losses coming by five or more points.

Miami is looking to avoid the No. 10 seed in the East, but it has not played well down the stretch of the season and is without All-Star Norman Powell on Wednesday.

I’m going to trust Boston to bounce back after a loss against Atlanta earlier in the week.

Victor Wembanyama OVER 11.5 Rebounds (-131)

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is making his case for the league’s MVP award down the stretch of the regular season, and he’s turned in some massive rebounding performances in the process.

Wemby is coming off a 16-rebound game in a win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday, and he’s pulled down 12 or more boards in seven of his last nine games. The former No. 1 overall pick has 15 or more boards in four straight, making him an exciting prop choice against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Golden State is just 22nd in the NBA in rebound percentage this season, and Wembanyama has cleared 11.5 boards in two of his three meetings with the Warriors this season. He’s grabbed at least nine boards in every game against them, giving him a solid floor entering Wednesday’s contest.

After recording the third-fastest double-double in NBA history on Monday, Wemby is a worthwhile prop target in this Western Conference clash.
