The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams have enjoyed a handful of joint practices with each other throughout the week, but with the starters getting a heavy workload in those practices, Saturday's preseason game is set to largely be a tool for evaluating young players and backups for both teams.

The Saints lost 24-20 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first preseason game, while the Rams beat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-12.

Let's dive into the odds and my best bet for Saturday's exhibition matchup.

Saints vs. Rams How to Watch Preseason Week 2

Saints vs. Rams Betting Trends

  • Kellen Moore is 0-3-1 straight up and 1-3 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason
  • Sean McVay is 13-16 straight up and 16-11-1 against the spread as a head coach in the preseason

Saints vs. Rams Key Player to Watch

  • Ty Simpson, QB - Los Angeles Rams

Many people questioned why the Rams reached for Ty Simpson in the NFL Draft, selecting him No. 13 overall in hopes that he'll be Matthew Stafford's eventual successor. The Simpson believers felt good about the pick last weekend when he completed 21-of-25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs. With the starters not playing for the Rams again this week, we'll see if Simpson can put up another impressive performance.

Saints vs. Rams Prediction and Pick

As Sean McVay's record in the preseason shows, he doesn't play his starters, which usually results in his team being the underdog, but then they find ways to cover the spread regardless. Week 1 was an example of that, as the Rams were set as underdogs but still beat the Chiefs outright.

It's hard for me to bet against the Rams after the performance Ty Simpson had for them last week. If he plays that well against the Saints, along with Stetson Bennett, it's going to be hard for the Rams not to cover this spread.

Pick: Rams +3 (-110) via DraftKings
