In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks are back in training camp as they begin their journey as defending Super Bowl champions.

The Seahawks saw a massive improvement last season after going 9-8 and 10-7 in their previous two campaigns, missing the playoffs each time.

In Mike Macdonald’s second season as head coach, the Seahawks went 14-3 and, of course, won the Super Bowl. John Schneider was the NFL Executive of the Year and Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named the Offensive Player of the Year thanks to a fantastic season.

Can they keep that up this year?

Let’s take a look at what the oddsmakers think of the Seahawks this season.

Can Seahawks Repeat Super Bowl-Caliber Season?

After winning 14 games last year, the oddsmakers have the Seahawks win total down at 10.5 this season, with the over favored ever so slightly.

While one could look at this as disrespectful to the Seahawks, it’s important to look at the bigger picture.

After winning the NFC West last year, the Seahawks have one of the harder schedules in the league this season. On top of that, the NFC West isn’t exactly an easy division.

The Los Angeles Rams are once again favored to win the division, with the Seahawks slightly ahead of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West odds. At least the Seahawks and the rest of the division should be able to beat up on the Arizona Cardinals.

The Seahawks focused on retaining most of their talent this offseason, but they did lose Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to free agency. They locked up Smith-Njigba and offensive tackle Charles Cross, though, along with edge rusher Derick Hall.

And while the loss of Walker III will hurt, Zach Charbonnet broke out for 12 touchdowns last season out of the backfield.

It’s going to be tough for the Seahawks to repeat, there’s certainly a path for more success in Seattle.
