The WNBA MVP and A’ja Wilson have gone hand-in-hand the last few seasons, as the Las Vegas Aces star has won back-to-back league MVPs and has taken home the honor in four of the last six seasons.

So, will someone finally dethrone here in 2026?

Wilson enters the season – which begins on Friday night – as the favorite in this market, and only one other player is set at shorter than 10/1 odds to capture the award. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (+260) is projected to have a big 2026 season after injuries derailed her second WNBA campaign.

After Clark, Napheesa Collier (+1000) and Breanna Stewart (+1000) are tied for third in the odds. There is a case against both players entering the season, as Collier (ankle) is injured and set to miss time while Stewart is playing on a quite the superteam with teammates like Sabrina Ionescu (fifth in the odds to win MVP), Satou Sabally (+4000 to win MVP) and Jonquel Jones (a former league MVP).

While Wilson and the Aces returned most of their core from last season’s title run, the star forward continues to put up historic numbers that have kept her in the MVP conversation in each of the last six seasons.

Here’s a look at the odds for this year’s award, as well as three players that I’d consider betting before the regular season gets underway.

A’ja Wilson

Look, Wilson doesn’t have a favorable price to win MVP, but she has shown time and time again that she is the league’s best player – and it’s not practically close.

After a slow start last season, Wilson led the Aces on a massive second-half run to earn the No. 2 seed, eventually going on to win the WNBA title. She averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.3 blocks per game. In addition to winning MVP, Wilson captured the third Defensive Player of the Year award of her career.

The star forward is going to put up massive scoring numbers night in and night out, but her two-way impact is unmatched by just about anyone other than Collier. With the Lynx star set to miss the start of the season, Wilson has a major leg up in the chase for MVP.

Caitlin Clark

Clark only played in 13 games last season, and she did not shoot the ball well when she was in the lineup. So, oddsmakers are projecting quite a bit with this price for the Fever star in the 2026 season.

The argument for Clark is pretty simple. She took the Fever to the playoffs in her first season in the W, and she’s one of the best all-around offensive players in the league. Clark is going to put up huge scoring and assist numbers, the question will be whether or not she can do it efficiently.

For her career, Clark shoots just 40.5 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from 3 while averaging 5.5 turnovers per game. She needs to improve those numbers across the board to truly compete with Wilson.

Still, it’s worth noting Clark was fourth in MVP voting as a rookie and has the ability to set some 3-point records in her third professional season.

Paige Bueckers

If you’re looking further down the odds board, former No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers is worth a look to win MVP.

Bueckers was on a banged-up and poorly built Dallas team as a rookie that won just 10 games, but the additions of Azzi Fudd and Alanna Smith immediately made the Wings a potential playoff contender in the 2026 season.

The UConn star had a massive rookie year, averaging 19.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from 3. An efficient scorer, Bueckers also dominated at times in Unrivaled during the offseason.

I think there’s a real chance she could average 20 or more points while pushing 50 percent from the field in her second season. If Dallas goes from the worst team in the league to a playoff team, Bueckers will have a case to win MVP.
