Ex-super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe, retired since early last year and inactive since late 2008, has denied, through a "mystery spokesman," published reports of a possible comeback.

BoxingScene.com reported on Tuesday that rumors were circulating in the UK that a Calzaghe comeback fight was being shopped around to the major UK television networks by soccer agent Barry Silkman, and retired Robin Reid was rumored as a potential comeback opponent.

A Calzaghe spokesman told The Mirror that Calzaghe had no plans to return. The Mirror's story had errors. Nobody reported anything about Calzaghe's people speaking with television networks in the United States and the mystery "spokesman" obviously did not want their name revealed on the record.

UK-based website, Live Fight, claim to have received "100% confirmation" from sources close to Robin Reid, that he had in fact been contacted about a possible comeback fight with Calzaghe.

BoxingScene.com stated Tuesday that it wasn't clear if Silkman was acting on his own to make a Calzaghe comeback event, or Calzaghe and/or his reps had some form of involvement in the comeback talks.
