Ex-middleweight champion Jermain Taylor arrested after police say that he shot his cousin and shot at another man.

Police arrested former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor on felony charges of first-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault after allegedly shooting his cousin Tuesday.

Taylor, 36, is scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday after spending the night in jail, according to Arkansas Democrat‑Gazette.

According to Pulaski County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. Carl Minden, the cousin and another man came to Taylor's home in Maumelle, Arkansas and an altercation occurred before Taylor shot at his cousin.

According to police, the cousin was shot two or three times and is in serious condition at an area hospital. The other man was not hurt. Authorities said that Taylor was cooperative during questioning about the shooting.

Taylor (32-4-1, 20 KOs) is scheduled to fight Australian Sam Solimon (44-11, 18 KOs) for the IBF middleweight title in Biloxi, Mississippi on Oct. 8.
