Report: Penn State fires offensive coordinator John Donovan

Sunday November 29th, 2015

Penn State has fired offensive coordinator and and tight ends coach John Donovan, reports ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

The Nittany Lions lost 55–16 to Michigan State on Saturday, dropping them to 7–5. Penn State’s offense has averaged less than 20 points per game in the last three weeks.

The Lions have struggled moving the ball this season, even with quarterback Christian Hackenberg at the helm. The team is ranked 82nd in passing yards, 107th in rushing yards and 104th in points per game.

Penn State has lost its last three games and four out of its last six. The 39-point loss to the Spartans was the most lopsided during coach James Franklin’s tenure. In his second season, Franklin is 14–11 with the Nittany Lions.
