STANFORD, Calif. (AP) Stanford defensive line coach Randy Hart is retiring after 46 years as a college coach.
Hart said Tuesday he is ''one of the luckiest coaches ever'' for being able to have a career that took him to Tampa, Iowa State, Purdue, Ohio State, Washington, Notre Dame and Stanford.
Hart spent the past six seasons with the Cardinal and participated in his 10th Rose Bowl as a coach or player last month. Hart has also coached in 28 bowl games in his career.
Hart won the 1968 national championship as a player under Woody Hayes at Ohio State and started his coaching career there as a graduate assistant in 1970. Hart was also an assistant on Washington's 1991 team that won a share of the national title.
