Here's the reason Texas could wait to let go of Charlie Strong

Texas has demoted defensive coordinator Vance Bedford after the Longhorns’ latest defensive collapse, head coach Charlie Strong announced on Monday.

Strong said he will run the team’s defense and call the plays.

Strong's tenure with the team also seems to be in peril as SI's Pete Thamel reported that Strong is "very close" to being fired at the end of the season.

Texas has given up 47 or more points in three of its four games and ranks last in the Big 12 in total defense and team passing efficiency defense, while forcing only one turnover this season.

The Longhorns gave up 555 yards of total offense in a 49–31 loss to Oklahoma State.

Bedford was also Strong's defensive coordinator at Louisville from 2010 to '13, before going to Texas along with Strong when he was hired in January 2014.

Texas (2–2, 0–1 Big 12) takes on Oklahoma (2–2, 1–0) this Saturday, and has lost four of the last six contests against the Sooners.
