Jameis Winston: Free education is enough for me

Forget the king crab legs fiasco. Jameis Winston said Sunday he thinks college athletes are blessed simply to receive a free education and that that's enough for him. That sound you hear is Twitter exploding.

Jameis Winston - national championship-winning quarterback and pilferer of succulent shellfish - is not holding out hope for college athletes to be paid. 

Winston said at Atlantic Coast Conference Media Days college athletes, "are blessed to get a free education...and that's enough for me," FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman reported Sunday via Twitter.

Winston said he enjoyed the opportunity to speak to media members at the conference's annual summer event so he could express his feelings so people could see who he was. He then unleashed his opinion on the payment of college athletes, a controversial topic for fans and athletes alike, which illuminated his surprising view on the subject.

Winston infamously was cited for "petit theft" this past April when he stole crab legs, butter and crawfish from a Tallahassee-area supermarket. The act prompted many to speculate the Heisman Trophy winner could not afford to feed himself. Winston's comments Sunday appear to contradict this idea.

Winston should nonetheless expect to be getting paid on Sundays in the near future.
