BYU suspends back Jamaal Williams one game for honor code violation
BYU junior running back Jamaal Williams said he is suspended for one game for breaking the school’s honor code.
Williams was arrested in March on a misdemeanor charge of underage drinking. The school’s honor code forbids the use of alcohol and illegal drugs.
Williams will miss the season opener at Connecticut on Aug. 29. He will be available for the Cougars' next game against Texas. Last season, BYU routed the Longhorns 40-21.

"Most definitely I am [going to be suspended]," Williams said to the Salt Lake Tribune. "They told me before camp started yesterday. It is something [where] you have to learn from your mistakes and overcome it. It is just one game.”
Williams, 19, rushed for 1,233 yards and seven touchdowns last season, both top marks among Cougars running backs.
