Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended for the first half of Saturday night's game against Clemson after he allegedly shouted an obscene phrase on campus.

Winston reportedly stood on a table in the student union and shouted a phrase that includes profanity and is sexual in nature. Deadspin first reported on the incident. (Some readers may find the phrase offensive.)

Earlier on Wednesday Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher said that Winston's act was "not a good decision" and is something "that has to be addressed."

The school released a statement on the matter:

Winston apologized for the incident at a press conference. He called his behavior a "selfish act" and added: "It eats me alive that I did something like that."

Winston was previously involved in a sexual assault investigation dating to December 2012, but the state attorney's office announced last December that he would not face any charges. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner was suspended from the Florida State baseball team after he was cited in April for shoplifting crab legs from a Publix supermarket.

Florida State (2-0) is ranked No. 1 in the latest AP Poll, while Clemson (1-1) is ranked No. 22. Sean Maguire, a redshirt sophomore quarterback from Sparta, N.J., is expected to start for the Seminoles.
