Report: Baylor DE Jamal Palmer out for season with torn ACL
Baylor junior defensive end Jamal Palmer will miss the rest of the year after injuring his knee in the Bears’ 28-7 victory over Texas on Saturday, according to multiple media reports.
According to the report, Palmer has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
Palmer has started all five games this season for Baylor, recording 14 total tackles, three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He had appeared in 21 games as a backup during his first two seasons with the school.
He is expected to be replaced in the lineup by redshirt freshman K.J. Smith, who also has 14 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks this season.

Baylor's defense is ranked fourth in the NCAA in total defense, giving up 267.2 yards a game and allowing 12.5 points a game. Their offense leads the nation in scoring offense and is second in total offense.
Fifth-ranked Baylor (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) plays No. 9 TCU (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) at home on Saturday.
