Iowa State Cyclones vs Texas Longhorns

The 2-4 Iowa State Cyclones travel to take on the 2-4 Texas Longhorns in a Big 12 matchup in Austin this Saturday. Iowa State is coming off its second win of the season last weekend, while the Longhorns lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry last week.

Texas 

10/11: Oklahoma 31, Texas 26

Texas was down 31-13 early in the fourth quarter and roared back, but the Longhorns couldn't pull off the upset of the Sooners for the second year in a row. Tyrone Swoopes threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns in the close loss, while wide receiver Jaxon Shipley caught nine balls for 115 yards. 

10/04: Baylor 28, Texas 7

Texas' rushing defense allowed Baylor running back Shock Linwood to rush for 148 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Tyrone Swoopes completed 16 of 34 passes for 144 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Longhorns' lone score came with 2:42 left in the game, a two-yard touchdown run from Johnathan Gray

09/27: Texas 23, Kansas 0

Tyrone Swoopes threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns and added another score on the ground. John Harris led the Longhorns in receiving with six catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. The Texas defense forced four turnovers in the shutout effort.

09/13: UCLA 20, Texas 17

The door opened for Texas to pull off the upset when UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley went down with an arm injury in the first quarter, but the Bruins were able to hang on after getting the lead in the final five minutes of the game. Tyrone Swoopes threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, but the Longhorns defense allowed the Bruins to rush for 249 yards.

09/06: BYU 41, Texas 7

David Ash missed the game with a concussion and ultimately decided to end his career. Tyrone Swoopes started in his place and threw for 176 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Texas turned the ball over four times and allowed 429 yards in the blowout loss. 

08/30: Texas 38, North Texas 7

Texas forced four turnovers and outgained North Texas 353-94 in Charlie Strong's Longhorn coaching debut. David Ash threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, with John Harris catching seven passes for 110 yards and a score. Ash added a touchdown on the ground.

Iowa State

10/11: Iowa State 37, Toldeo 30

Iowa State win over Toledo was the Cyclones' second win of the season. Sam Richardson threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns in the win. DeVondrick Nealy led the way out of the backfield with 71 yards on 16 carries, while Allen Lazard caught eight passes for 96 yards. 

10/04: Oklahoma State 37, Iowa State 20

Iowa State took a 6-0 first quarter lead after two field goals, but by the end of the first quarter the Cowboys were up 13-6. Sam Richardson threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, and wide receiver E.J. Bibbs hauled in two touchdown catches. The Iowa State defense forced two Oklahoma State turnovers. 

09/27: Baylor 49, Iowa State 28

The Cyclones’ 92-yard scoring drive in the first quarter matched its longest of the season. All four of Iowa State’s scoring drives were 75 yards or longer. Quarterback Sam B. Richardson’s 47-yard touchdown run is the longest rush of the season for ISU.

09/13: Iowa State 20, Iowa 17

The Cyclones have won back-to-back games at Iowa for the first time since winning three in a row from 1998-2002. Cole Netten hit the game-winning field goal from 42 yards out with two seconds remaining. This is just the second time since the series was renewed in 1977 that the team trailing after three quarters won. Iowa State trailed 14-10 in this game and came back from a 7-6 deficit after three periods for a 19-7 win in 1982.

09/06Kansas State 32, Iowa State 28

Jake Waters scored for the Wildcats with 1:30 remaining as Kansas State came back from 15 points down to win. It was Iowa State’s earliest conference opener since 2002, when it played Kansas in Week 2. Jarvis West had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown, ISU’s longest punt return score since a 91-yarder by James McMillion in 1992.

08/30: North Dakota State 34, Iowa State 14

After taking a 14-0 lead, the Cyclones surrendered 34 unanswered points. Aaron Wimberly rushed for both Iowa State touchdowns, the second two-touchdown game of his career. The Bison have beaten an FBS opponent for five consecutive seasons.
