Central Michigan RB Thomas Rawls to be sentenced for credit card theft
Central Michigan senior running back Thomas Rawls faces sentencing on Tuesday after being charged with felony counts of larceny and credit card fraud, reports the Associated Press.
Rawls plead guilty last month to a misdemeanor charge of attempted larceny after prosecutors dropped felony charges of stealing credit cards and possessing stolen credit cards.
Rawls was arrested in April after authorities said he and two others stole an elderly woman’s purse from the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
The team suspended Rawls for two games and reinstated him after he made the plea deal.
Rawls, who transferred from Michigan, is the nation’s fifth leading rusher, running for 1,007 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games this season for Central Michigan (4-4, 2-2 MAC). He played for Michigan for three seasons, rushing for 333 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
The Chippewas hit the road to take on Buffalo (3-4, 1-2 MAC) on Saturday.
