Gurley was initially suspended after accepting more than $3,000 for autographed memorabilia. As part of his punishment, Gurley must repay a portion of the money to charity and perform 40 hours of community service.

''The university's due diligence in its investigation and the student's full disclosure of his involvement in the violations were factors in not imposing a more severe withholding condition,'' the NCAA said in a statement (via AP), after the suspension was first announced.

Gurley, a junior, will not be eligible to play until Nov. 15, when the Bulldogs take on No. 4 Auburn.

Georgia is currently 6-1 and ranked No. 9 in the country.
