Vanderbilt rape trial delayed until January
The trial of two former Vanderbilt football players accused of rape has been delayed until January.
A judge halted the trial after an attorney had surgery for a torn shoulder and will require recovery during the week of the scheduled trial of Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey. The attorney also caused a four-hour delay during jury selection on Monday while visiting the doctor.
Vandenburg and Batey, along with two other former players, were charged with five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery after allegedly raping an unconscious female student on June 23, 2013. Vandenburg is also charged with unlawful photography and tampering with evidence.

The players were dismissed from the team and suspended from the school.
