Each week, the college football team here at SI will delve into the fun, the weird and the wacky of college football with a series called Between The Hashes. It’s a way to decompress from the madness of the week, and to find a few things that you might have missed.

Think back to the beginning of the season. What'd you predict was going to happen? Was it anything like we've seen to this point? Be honest. It's a safe space. We can dream up all kinds of scenarios and situations, but the fact is each and every year, what unfolds before us is crazier than anything we can imagine. This is the sort of thing that makes college football so amazing. There's something you've never seen before, something you'll never see again, something you have to watch a hundred times to make sure it was real. 

As we round the corner and head for home on another amazing year, we're going to look back and think 2014 was pretty great. But there's still time to add to what we've already seen. And something tells me the last few weeks aren't going to disappoint.

Ice Cream Man

People in (or from) the Midwest are different. As one of them, I can say this safely. So while most people would run the other way when faced with the weather of the Ohio State-Minnesota game on Saturday, it just led others to be more inspired. And when you have the chance to eat an ice cream bar in the snow and get yourself on TV, you do it. This is an easy call.

More Snow 

Wisconsin got a huge win over Nebraska and now is in the driver's seat in the Big Ten West. It wasn't just a win; it was a dismemberment plan (shout out Travis Morrison). So to celebrate, the Badgers did what anyone would do. They made snow angels.

Elevator Music

Some Washington players got stuck in an elevator the night before their game against Arizona. This is bad. I hope if they got scared they gave Barry Sanders a call since he knows a thing or two about elevators. I am glad the Huskies made it out of the elevator safely, but this just goes to show you technology is out to get us all and we will someday be its slaves and maybe we should just take the stairs or something.

Nice Coat

Everyone reacts to the cold differently. Some people try to be a hero and go sleeveless or act like they're above it. Others don't try to hide their discomfort. They're miserable. They want everyone to know they're miserable. And they dress accordingly so they can be less miserable. Let's go to the Illinois sideline:

If you want to use a cryptocurrency typically associated with hackers and black market drugs to buy your pretzels and hot dogs, at Georgia Tech you can do that.

Let's Go Bowling

Let's check in with the Mercer Bears, last seen on the national radar dancing their way into one of the best upsets of the NCAA tournament after beating Duke. And now they demand our attention once again. This is the best celebration I've seen in awhile. It's choreographed, joyous and worth whatever penalty you can throw at it. (Hint: officials, this is what we want football to be. Let the kids have fun. It won't hurt anyone.)

This was about as easy a winner as we've ever had for this award. So take a bow, Smokey, for being adorable and hopefully all nice and cozy.
