Report: Michigan interim AD, Brady Hoke to meet about future
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke and interim athletic director Jim Hackett will meet Tuesday, possibly to discuss Hoke’s future with the program, according to multiple media outlets.
The Detroit Free Press, Scout.com and ESPN have all reported that a meeting will take place with Hackett and Hoke. ESPN reported that the meeting will take place this afternoon.
Hackett has been the interim AD since Dave Brandon who resigned on Oct. 31.
Brandon’s tenure over the past few months was plagued by the way he handled quarterback Shane Morris, who was hit in a Sept. 27 game against September and was clearly injured, but was allowed to stay in the game. Morris was later diagnosed with a mild concussion. Brandon was also criticized for the way he handled the student ticket prices.
Michigan president Mark Schlissel charged Hackett with conducting a review of the program, and Hackett said he would evaluate Hoke at season’s end.
Hoke has two years left on his contract, and can be bought out for $3 million if he is fired before Dec. 31. That buyout lowers to $2 million if he is let go after the new year.
Hoke is 31-20 in his four seasons at the school, and finished this season 5-7 after a 42-28 loss to Ohio State on Saturday. It was Michigan's first losing season since 2009.
