Iowa State has landed Marquette transfer Deonte Burton, according to CBSSports.com.

Burton, a 6'4 sophomore forward from Milwaukee, was recruited by former Marquette coach Buzz Williams, who left the Golden Eagles prior to this season for the head coaching job at Virginia Tech. Marquette announced Burton and guard John Dawsonwould transfer earlier this month.

According to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com, Burton chose Iowa State over UCLA. Burton will have to pay his way at Iowa State for the spring semester before he becomes eligible to play after the fall semester of next season. He will then have one-and-a-half years of eligibility remaining

"We appreciate all that Deonte and John have contributed to the program since our staff arrived in April," Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski said in the program's statement. "We will do everything we can to help them make the next step in their respective careers and wish them nothing but the best in the future."

Kentucky leaves no doubt vs. UCLA

Burton played in Marquette's first eight games this season, averaging 6.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game, up almost four minutes per game from last season.

Two of Iowa State's top contributors this season are also transfers. UNLV transfer Bryce Dejean-Jones is second on the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game and also averages a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Northern Illinois transfer Abdel Nader is averaging 7.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Dejean-Jones was suspended by the team on Dec. 11 after being arrested and charged with two misdemeanors relating to a nuisance party and a noise ordinance violation.
