Texas A&M lands commitment from juco QB Jake Hubenak
Junior college quarterback Jake Hubenak verbally committed to Texas A&M on Saturday, bolstering the Aggies' depth at the position in time for fall camp.
Hubenak comes from Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, where he completed nearly 65% of his passes for 4,052 yards, 47 touchdowns and nine interceptions as a redshirt freshman. He transferred to Blinn after joining Oklahoma State as a walk-on in 2013.
The 6'3", 210-pound quarterback joins Texas A&M with three years of eligibility remaining.
Kyle Allen figures to enter the fall as Texas A&M's starter after starting the final four games of last season as a freshman. Allen appeared in nine games total, competing 61.5% of his passes for 1,322 yards, 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Aggies also have junior Connor McQueen, a one-time walk-on who received a scholarship before last season, and Kyler Murray, an incoming freshman who said last week he opt out of the MLB draft in order to compete for Texas A&M's starting job. Murray was the first player to be selected for both the Under Armour All-America baseball and football games.
Hubenak's father graduated from Texas A&M in 1986.

"It's amazing, just to think how far I've come," Hubenak told the Austin American-Statesman. "You look back on stuff and wonder why certain things happen. But on days like today, you remember that things happen for a reason.
"It's wide open, and whatever happens, I'm going to accept my role."
